Spokesperson of the Bayelsa State Police Command, Asinim Butswat has confirmed that about twelve persons were burnt to death in a fatal road crash along the Tombia-Ammassoma road in Yenagoa LGA, on Wednesday, July 8, 2020.
Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said the accident occured after a 14-seater passenger bus rammed into a diesel tanker truck conveying building materials to a construction site in Amassoma.
After the collision, both vehicles went up in flames, leading to the sudden death of eight passengers and fatal injury of four others who died upon arrival at the Niger Delta Teaching Hospital in Okolobiri.
Eyewitnesses who expressed their fears said they could not do anything to save the lives of the passengers because the fire was so terrifying and they could not stand the sight of it.
