Despite the setbacks, he prayed for divine intervention, refusing to accept the official’s words as final for his company, Pacific Energy, which was collaborating with Chinese engineering firms on the power plant.
Adeleke explained, “I own a power plant that generates about 15% of Nigeria’s electricity. We’re building the largest power plant in the country, a 1,250-megawatt facility set for completion in January 2025.”
He recounted how the permit was initially denied for environmental reasons, leaving him and his Chinese partners facing potential financial ruin. Despite this, he remained hopeful.

His Chinese colleague, who doubted that prayer alone could resolve the issue, even traveled to Nigeria to discuss the project’s future.
Fortunately, the project eventually received approval from the Minister of Power, who recognized its potential. Adeleke emphasized that the breakthrough came not only through persistence but also through faith. He had previously spoken about the power plant during the 9th graduation ceremony at Adeleke University in July 2023.
