How I Survived COVID-19 – FCT Director Of Public Health Recounts Ordeal [VIDEO]

Doctor Josephine Okechukwu, director of public health and human service in Federal capital territory administration (FCTA) has narrated how she came down with the virulent COVID-19 and what she went through in the process of being treated for the infection.

Okechukwu, in a 9-minutes long video obtained by Ekohotblog, recounted the grim and sordid reality of the debilitating toll the virus takes on those unfortunate enough to contract it.

She said her experience from the very moment she tested positive and throughout her stay in the treatment center was mired in unpleasant events.

Okechukwu warned that the virus wasn’t not a thing to be joked with, adding that no part of the country is spared or immune to the disease.

Okechukwu, who disclosed that she tested positive to the virus on December 3, said between November’s ending and December 18 the FCT recorded over 2400 cases of the disease, a development she said indicate the berthing of the second wave ship at the country’s shore.

She noted that the second wave of the virus is more insidious and spreads faster than the first wave, saying that the FCT recorded a little above 1400 cases at the height of the first wave in July.

Citing data from the health ministry, she said there is 127 percent increase in December compared to what the country experience at the peak of the virus in July.

She said the country is in crisis and urge everyone to playing their role in curbing the spread of the virus.

She opined that the likelihood of people contracting the virus is very high considering the time of the year we are in as people come together to celebrate and have a good time during the holidays and yuletide season.

She explained that the chances of contracting the virus from an asymptomatic person – some who’s not showing signs of the disease or not physically weighed down by it – is much higher than from someone who’s shown symptoms and physically constrained by the disease.
