How Lagos Technician Stole Streetlights’ Solar Panels He Installed – Police
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Lagos State Police Command has revealed how a 30-year-old technician stole solar panels installed to power streetlights.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, made the revelation in a statement on his X account on Monday.
According to Hundeyin, the Lagos State Government recently facilitated the installation of solar-powered streetlights in some parts of the state.
However, a few weeks later, it was observed that solar panels were being stolen from the lights.
The police spokesperson in Lagos disclosed that Emmanuel Achogwu, the suspect who was recently arrested, was one of the technicians that the Lagos government contracted to install the solar-powered streetlights.
Not long after installing the streetlights, police officers from Alausa Division on Ikosi Road caught Achogwu with four solar panels, which he had removed from the project he worked on.
“Recently, #followlasg installed some solar-powered streetlights in some parts of the state. A few weeks later, the solar panels are being stolen,” Hundeyin wrote.
“The police was informed and got to work. A few days back, 30-year-old Emmanuel Achogwu was arrested by officers from Alausa Division on Ikosi Road with four solar panels, moments after he removed them.
“Investigation reveals that the suspect was one of the technicians contracted to install the solar-powered streetlights. Investigation is ongoing.”
