Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has revealed that the political crisis between him and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, strengthened his resolve and reshaped his perspective on leadership.
Speaking at the Christmas Ballad hosted by former Rivers State Governor Peter Odili in Port Harcourt on Friday, Fubara explained that he no longer viewed the challenges as problems but as stepping stones necessary for effective governance.
The event was highlighted in a statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi.
Fubara credited God as the ultimate liberator, ensuring his triumph over the political turmoil and its architects. “My strength comes from the people of Rivers State who stand with me daily,” Fubara said. “It is not just my strength but the collective encouragement, work, and support of true Rivers people. This gives me the courage to stand tall for them.”
He emphasized his reliance on divine guidance, stating, “The ultimate game changer and liberator remains God Almighty. With Him on our side, victory is assured.”
The governor reassured the audience of his administration’s commitment to fostering progress and delivering a brighter future for the state. He expressed gratitude to leaders who resisted pressures to compromise, choosing instead to stand on the right side of history.
Former Minister of Transport, Dr. Abiye Sekibo, praised Fubara for his steadfast leadership, which continues to inspire pride among the people of Rivers State.
Peter Odili commended the governor for confronting challenges head-on and preventing Rivers from being monopolized. He applauded Fubara’s efforts in emancipating the state, ensuring governance stability, and improving the welfare of civil servants and residents.
Justice Mary Odili also expressed her family’s unwavering support for Fubara’s administration, lauding his role as an emancipator dedicated to Rivers State’s progress.
Fubara concluded by reaffirming his determination to leave a legacy of remarkable achievements, ensuring that every passing year brings tangible progress to Rivers State.
