EKO HOT BLOG reports that Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah has urged world leaders to find a way to end the ongoing conflict between Israel and Gaza as he described the ongoing hostilities as a “slaughter of innocent souls”.
In his post on X on Wednesday, the Liverpool legend lamented that “there has been too much violence, heartbreak, and brutality” since the conflict escalated earlier this month.
The conflict between Israel and Gaza escalated after Hamas, the main militant group in Palestine, attacked Israel and killed over 1,400 people, and kidnapped scores of others.
In retaliation for the unprecedented attack, Israel reportedly launched airstrikes in Gaza that led to 3,000 deaths
Health officials reported that hundreds of people died in an explosion that occurred on Tuesday night at a busy hospital in Gaza City.
Also, Palestinian officials claimed that the explosion at Al-Ahli Arab Hospital was caused by an Israeli airstrike.
The militant group refuted the Israeli military’s assertion that a misfired rocket launch by Palestinian Islamic Jihad was the cause of the incident.
In his reaction to the incident at the hospital, Mohamed Salah lamented that the “horrifying” scenes at the hospital are a call for “humanity” to prevail.
“The people of Gaza need food, water, and medical supplies urgently,” Salah said in a video posted on X.
“All lives are sacred and must be protected. The massacres need to stop. Families are being torn apart.
“I am calling on the world leaders to come together to prevent further slaughter of innocent souls.”
Due to the ongoing crisis, the Algerian Football Federation has halted all football games and competitions “in solidarity with the Palestinian people”.
