Hunger Protest: Looting, Vandalism Are Not the Answer – Toke Makinwa

Nollywood actress and media personality Toke Makinwa has criticized those exploiting the ongoing nationwide protest to destroy and vandalize the properties of fellow Nigerians.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that a diverse group of Nigerians took to the streets on Thursday to begin a nationwide demonstration over the severe hardships in the country.

Reports emerged that some hoodlums took advantage of the peaceful protest to loot government and private properties in various parts of the country.

Reacting via her X handle on Thursday evening, Makinwa condemned these actions as unjustified.

She emphasized that the individuals whose properties were being looted are also enduring the same hardships.

“Destroying properties and stealing from your fellow Nigerians who are going through the same hardship is not right at all. This is very sad,” she wrote.

In response to a critic, she clarified that her tweet did not imply the crimes were committed by the protesters.

“I did not say the stealing and vandalism were done by protesters. The people who have their things stolen are Nigerians too, going through the same hardship. What have they done to deserve this?” she explained.
