The Hunters Group of Nigeria, HGN in Kogi state have arrested ten kidnappers and rescued no fewer than nineteen kidnapped victims at Kabba junction in Adavi Local government area following a tipoff.
The Chairman of the group, Mr lnusa Bature, made this known while speaking with newsmen in lokoja Kogi state capital.
According to the leader of the hunters who led the operations said the suspects were linked to the recent various Kidnapping in the area.
He explained the combined team of the local hunters received first-hand information that some travellers were kidnapped along the axis, and the Group immediately swang into action to the identified location where they engaged the criminals in a gun battle.
Mr Bature said During the encounter, six out of twelve kidnappers were arrested while 4 of them escape with bullets wound and various degree of injuries.
Narrating his ordeal one of the victims, Mr Magaji Francis said they were travelling from Lagos to Adamawa on reaching Kabba junction, their vehicle was stopped by kidnappers and four of them were kidnapped and later communicated with their family members demanding the for fifty million ransom before the interventions the local security.
The Chairman of Adavi Local Council area of the state Mr Joseph Omuya Salami who visited some of the victims at Alheri hospital Kabba junction, described the situations as pathetic.
Mr Salami commended the HGN and other security agencies in the state for their efforts toward curbing crime in the area.
Items recovered from suspects are two toy local guns, army uniforms and Eight mobile phones among others.
Speaking on the development the chief press secretary to Kogi state Governor, Mr Onogu Muhammad while commended the HGN in the state for their efforts assured the residents and commuters plying through the state routs of their safety as security issue remain top priority in the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state.
