Suspended deputy commissioner of police, Abba Kyari, has appeared before the special panel investigating his alleged connection with Ray Hushpuppi.
Recall that the Federal Bureau of Investigation FBI had alleged that Hushpuppi gave Abba Kyari N8 million as a bribe to encourage the arrest and detention of his rival, Chibuzor Kelly Vincent after they fell out over a $1 million fraud deal.
The Police Service Commission PSC had over the weekend suspended Kyari for his indictment in the fraud scandal.
On Monday, August 2, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, replaced Kyari with DCP Tunji Disu.
A Special Investigation panel presided by the deputy inspector-general of police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigations Department, Joseph Egbunike, sat at the Force headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday as they begin to investigate the report against Kyari.
Abba Kyari came before the panel and submitted his defence on the indictment.
