Hushpuppi’s Lawyer Says He Has Not Dumped Him

Gal Pissetzky, the legal representative of a suspected Internet fraudster, Ramon Abass, aka Hushpuppi, has refuted the report that he had dumped the suspect, saying he would still be standing for him in California, where the case was transferred to.

PREMIUM TIMES reported that the Nigerian internet fraudster dumped his Chicago lawyer Gal Pissetzky for a government attorney after his case was transferred to a court in California.

The Lawyer, however, took to his official Instagram page to announce that the report was fake news, sharing a photo of the report done by PREMIUM TIMES.

“Fake News! I will be representing @hushpuppi in Los Ángeles, and many other facts in this terrible article are fake news,” he said.

It was earlier reported that the 37-year-old was denied bail at a Chicago court where his lawyers tried to help him secure a bail.

His lawyers noted that the fraudster would be made to wear his electronic tag and would also stay with a relative if he is granted bail but the argument fell on the judge’s deaf ears.

The judge also ruled that the Nigerian big boy would remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshal until further order of the court.

Hushpuppi’s case has now been transferred to the Central District of California for prosecution.

It was revealed that his trial would be held in Los Angeles where the case was filed, rather in Chicago where the investigation is being handled.

Recall that Hushpuppi was arrested by the Dubai Police and extradited to the United States of America, where he was handed over to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The Instagram celebrity and his gang were alleged to have defrauded 1,926,400 people from different parts of the world and stolen about 1.6bn Dirham (N168bn).

The FBI alleged that Hushpuppi also attempted to dupe an English Premier League football club of £100m (N48.4bn).
