- Former Skye Bank chairman insists he is not the biological father of Adaobi Alagwu’s daughter and seeks a court declaration.
- Ayeni rejects earlier DNA results and demands other men allegedly involved with Alagwu also take paternity tests.
- Alagwu, currently abroad, is expected to present her defense and counterclaim, insisting Ayeni is the child’s father.
Former Skye Bank Chairman, Tunde Ayeni, has asked a Federal Capital Territory Customary Court in Dawaki, Abuja, to officially declare that his ex-mistress, Adaobi Alagwu’s daughter, is not his.
EKO HOT BLOG gathered that Ayeni and Alagwu have been embroiled in a legal battle over the child’s paternity. While Alagwu maintains that the business mogul fathered her daughter, Ayeni has consistently denied the claim.
Testifying in court on Monday, Ayeni, led by his lawyer Silas Onu, insisted that Alagwu was never his wife and urged the court to affirm this.

“I want a declaration that she was never my wife; we were never married, and I am not the biological father of her daughter,” he told the court.
Ayeni admitted that before and shortly after the child’s birth, he made financial contributions, including a payment to Alagwu’s father, which he said was later refunded. He explained that he initially agreed to let the child bear his surname because he was led to believe she was his daughter.
He added that he filed the petition against Alagwu because she had been falsely presenting herself as his wife, causing embarrassment to his legally wedded spouse.

“When reasonable discussions failed to stop her from parading herself in a manner that caused disaffection in my home, I had to take legal action,” Ayeni stated.
He further argued that physical traits, such as being flat-footed, which do not run in his family, led him to question the child’s paternity.
During cross-examination by Alagwu’s lawyer, T.G. Okechukwu, Ayeni refused to take another DNA test, stating that he would only agree if other men who were in relationships with Alagwu at the time also participated.
“It was me who insisted on a DNA test when I noticed the child had features that were unfamiliar to my family,” he said. “If I am to submit for another test, then others who were also in relationships with her should do the same.”
Alagwu, currently abroad for medical reasons, is set to present her defense on March 4. In her counterclaim, she denied Ayeni’s allegations, insisting that her customary dowry was paid in 2022 and that their daughter was born during the subsistence of their marriage.

She further claimed that Ayeni named the child and that official records in the United States, including the birth certificate and California birth register, recognize him as the father.

According to Alagwu, the DNA test Ayeni initially requested confirmed a 99.9999997% probability of paternity, but he later rejected the results and allegedly intensified a smear campaign against her and the child.
With both parties holding firm to their claims, the court proceedings will continue on March 4 for Alagwu’s defense and the hearing of her counterclaim.
