Jaywon Discloses His Benefit From ‘Yahoo Yahoo’

Former Kennis Music act an songwriter, Jaywon said he might have benefited from the proceeds of internet fraud, better known in Nigeria as “Yahoo Yahoo.”

However, the 33-year-old musician best known for his hit song, “This year” (Odun yi) said such could only have happened because he was unsure of the source of the money.

Responding to a question on if he has collected money from internet fraudsters during an interview with Punch, Jaywon stated, “I cannot really say that I have never collected money from a yahoo boy or not.

“There are people one feels are involved in a legitimate business without knowing that they are fraudsters behind closed doors.”

On funding of the Nigerian music industry, the Kogi State-born artiste said that he is interested in anything that helps further the growth of the music industry.

“As far as I’m concerned, anything that would make the industry grow is welcome.”
