According to the actress, her father passed away while she was in boarding school in Kaduna State, and this affected her greatly. Omotola, who is fondly called ‘Omosexy,’ stated that the sudden demise made her emotionless and that she has never cried for anything again in her life.
The actress revealed that she was close to going into prostitution to survive because of the challenges she faced at a young age. She noted that her father’s death affected her positively and negatively, as it propelled her to meet influential people while she was young.
Omotola explained that her father was the manager of the Lagos country club at the time, and many influential people came there. As a result, she started rolling with people of influence from a very young age. The actress added that the first thing her father did that broke her heart was when he took her to Command secondary school in Kaduna at the age of 8.
She said, “I was a child, and I didn’t take it well. I asked why would my dad leave me in a boarding school when he had other kids.” Omotola recounted that when she was 13, they came to pick her up from school, but she didn’t know why. People in the school had the information that her dad had died, but they didn’t tell her.
Omotola said, “When I got home, I realized my dad was dead, so going through that mental process, I didn’t know how to react, and I didn’t know how I was feeling. I was just silent, but now that I’m older, I think I really understand everything. So I just became emotionless, and it has affected me till today.”
The actress went on to state that she is so confident in who she is and doesn’t fear anyone. She noted that there is nothing anyone can say to her that can move her. Omotola further explained that she doesn’t fear for her life, and if not for her younger brother, she would have become a prostitute due to desperation.
Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde’s story is a testament to the fact that challenges can come at any point in life, and how one reacts to them can make all the difference.
