Peter Obi, the former Governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate, has denied the rumors of his arrest that have been circulating online.
Obi issued a statement on his official Twitter account on Wednesday, clarifying that he is currently at his home in Onitsha, Anambra State.

He urged his supporters to disregard the false claim, calling it yet another instance of fake news targeting him.
Obi explained that similar rumors had spread in the past, recalling an incident in September 2024 when rumors falsely claimed that operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS) had invaded his house while he was in Rwanda.
He stressed that such rumors were meant to distract from the real issues the country faces, particularly the nation’s pressing challenges.
Obi emphasized the need for people to remain focused and not be sidetracked by baseless claims.
The arrest rumors come amid rising tension between Obi and Felix Morka, a prominent member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Morka’s recent comment about Obi’s New Year message, which sparked significant backlash, including death threats against the former governor, has further fueled the controversy.
Morka, however, defended his comment, stating that it was a direct response to the label of “voodoo economist” and “prophet of doom” that had been attached to Obi.
He also challenged Obi to provide proof of the alleged threats.
