In an emotional interview on the talk show Talk to B, prominent Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo shared her personal experiences of trauma and hardship throughout her life.
Eko Hot Blog reports that speaking candidly with her colleague Biola Bayo, she disclosed being a victim of rape on five different occasions, highlighting the devastating impact of sexual assault and its prevalence in society.
Ojo, known for her versatile roles in the film industry, has been vocal about various social issues and continues to use her platform to raise awareness about the challenges faced by many individuals
“I was raped five times in my life,” Iyabo shared, revealing her zero-tolerance stance on sexual assault.
“I discovered we have a lot of rape apologists. I don’t care who the person is; if that person is my son, I am going to come for him unapologetically.”
During the heartfelt interview, Iyabo Ojo further disclosed details about her tumultuous family history.
She recounted her difficult relationship with her father, who disowned her when she made the decision to marry her late husband.
Ojo also spoke about her father’s battles with alcoholism and drug abuse, which ultimately led to his untimely death at the age of 40.
“My dad did everything—alcohol and drugs—so it messed him up at a young age. He died at 40,” she said.
The actress shared that she grew up under the care of her grandmother and only met her mother when she was around seven years old.
“I grew up with my grandmother, who is half Delta and half Igbo. I think I was seven before I knew my mother,” she recounted.
Iyabo also clarified her relationship with controversial musician Naira Marley, stating that she has never met him in her life, contrary to speculation.
