EKO HOT BLOG reports that Nigerian music star, Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, better known as Spyro, has revealed how the late veteran singer, Sound Sultan, played a pivotal role in his life and career. In a tribute to the late artist on his Instagram handle on Friday, Spyro said Sound Sultan had fed, clothed, and accepted him when he had nothing.
Spyro also expressed sadness that Sound Sultan was not alive to witness his success, adding that he would forever be grateful to him for his mentorship. The post was accompanied by a photo of the late singer.
In the post, Spyro said, “I miss you mentor…I cannot count my blessings without you. Today thoughts of how you fed me, clothed, and accepted me when nobody did, came rushing back. I remember a night we were to go to an event and as usual, I came so unkempt and fashion-less but while others laughed at me, you went up to your room and brought your cloth down for me to wear.”
“I wish you were here to see all that is happening. I remember how I would always tell you I would make you proud, and it’s sad you ain’t here now. Thank you for all you taught me and did for me. Till we meet again, rest in power Sound Sultan,” Spyro added.
Sound Sultan passed away on July 11, 2021, at the age of 44, after a long battle with cancer in the United States.
The music industry and fans mourned the loss of the iconic artist, whose career spanned more than two decades. Spyro’s tribute is a testament to the profound impact Sound Sultan had on young musicians in Nigeria, and his legacy continues to inspire generations of artists.
