I Won In Rivers Despite Wike Coming Out Against Me – Peter Obi
-
INEC declared APC’s Tinubu winner of the 2023 presidential election in the early hours of Wednesday, March 1.
-
Peter Obi of the Labour Party swiftly rejected the outcome, claiming he won the poll.
-
He recently said that he won in Rivers State although INEC declared APC the winner in the state.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has claimed that he won the election in Rivers State if the real votes were counted.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the winner of the February 25 presidential poll.
EDITOR’S PICKS
According to INEC, Obi came third with 6,101,533 votes.
Also, Tinubu polled 231,591 votes in Rivers state as against the LP candidate’s 175,071 votes.
The result led some political actors and stakeholders to accuse Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, of manipulating the election against Obi but the governor defended himself and said the report of rigging in the state being circulated on social media was the handiwork of his adversaries.
Speaking during an interview with Arise TV on Monday, Obi alleged that despite Wike coming out against him, he won Rivers by “over 50 percent” in the presidential poll if the “real votes” were counted.
“In the south-east, people know me, what I stand for, and that I have kept to my promises. It is a simple thing. It is like people saying I won Lagos because of the Igbos there. How many Igbos live in Lagos? I got more votes from the indigenes in Lagos than those you can call visitors,” the former Anambra governor said.
“In Rivers, where you know that the governor came out against me, I still succeeded. If the real votes of Rivers were counted, I won. I had over 50 percent of the votes. The other two parties shared the remaining figures.”
