EKO HOT BLOG reports that Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has issued a strong statement in response to the Premier League’s official investigation into the club’s financial situation, following today’s Press Conference ahead of the weekend’s games.
The investigation was launched following allegations of financial irregularities surrounding the club’s owners, Abu Dhabi United Group.
In the press conference, Guardiola stated that he has no intention of leaving Manchester City and that he trusts the club’s management, despite the ongoing investigation.
“I am not moving from this seat, I want to stay at Manchester City more than ever — I’m sure.” He stated to Journalists
“Manchester City did not lie to me. Look what happened with UEFA, we did not do anything wrong. Why should I not trust my people?”
He affirmed that he believes the club will be found innocent of any wrongdoing, just as they were in the recent UEFA investigation.
The Manchester City manager went on to express concern over the precedent set by the 19 Premier League teams involved in the investigation, suggesting that many other clubs could also be accused of similar offenses.
Pep Guardiola stated that he believes the accusations against Manchester City are without merit and that the club will ultimately be cleared of any wrongdoing.
He also emphasized that he trusts the words of the club’s management and stated that he is fully convinced that the club will be found innocent.
Pep Guardiola added that this is not the first time the club has faced such allegations and that since Abu Dhabi took over the club, there have been similar situations in the past.
In conclusion, Guardiola stated that he remains committed to Manchester City and that he is eager to continue his work with the club, despite the ongoing investigation. He expressed confidence in the club’s management and stated that he believes the truth will ultimately emerge and the club will be exonerated of any wrongdoing.
“These 19 Premier League have set a precedent. What they [rival PL clubs] have done to us, be careful with that. Many clubs can make suggestions and there are a lot of clubs that can be accused, like we have been accused…”
“I’m fully convinced that we will be innocent — and then what will happen next? Will we stop now? Since Abu Dhabi took over the club, it’s been like that”.
“Between 19 Premier League teams or the words of my people, I rely on the words of my people at City”.
“Man City proved that we were completely innocent with the UEFA case. Why should I not think right now when there is not an acquisition?”
