Ten people lost their lives, and seven others were injured following a building collapse in Ibadan, Oyo State, early Thursday morning.
The Oyo State Fire Services Agency reported that the collapse occurred at around 2 a.m. in the Jegede Oluloyo area of Ibadan, within Ona Ara Local Government Area.

The agency’s statement read, “The Oyo State Fire Services Agency received a distress call around 2 a.m. this morning regarding a building collapse at Jegede Olunloyo area, Ibadan. We have recovered ten persons from the debris, and seven others have been rescued alive. The rescue operation is still underway.”
Speaking to Punch, the General Manager of Oyo State Fire Services, Yemi Akinyinka, provided further details on the incident, stating, “We received a distress call from nearby residents around 2 a.m.
When we arrived, we found that ten people had already died. Three bodies were recovered before our team’s arrival, and our personnel recovered an additional four. Efforts to locate any more survivors or victims are continuing.”
The cause of the building collapse has not yet been determined, and authorities are urging residents to avoid the area to allow emergency services to conduct their work safely and effectively.
