All is now set for the 2024 biennial convention of the Ibadan Descendants Union (IDU), a socio-cultural organisation based in the United States (US).
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the event, which will take place between September 20-22, 2024, at the Grace Event Center in Houston, Texas, is aimed at fostering unity, development, and cultural preservation among the descendants of Ibadan.
According to the organisation, the upcoming convention is expected to continue these important initiatives and bring together the Ibadan diaspora to strengthen ties and advance common goals.
In the last five years, the group, under the leadership of Oloye Abiola Iyiola, National President, has held numerous conventions where developmental issues of Ibadan community were discussed.
For instance, in 2022, the convention focused on educational development and youth empowerment, with discussions on expanding scholarship programs and creating mentorship opportunities.
In 2020, the convention was held virtually due to the lockdown caused by the outbreak of coronavirus.
