Ibeju-Lekki General Hospital in Lagos provided free medical and surgical care to 1,113 residents during a one-week program.
Medical Director Dr. Ime Okon reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to improving health outcomes through quality care.
Dr. Ime Okon explained that the program aimed to bring relief to residents during the Yuletide, raise awareness, and support Lagos State’s THEMES agenda for grassroots development.
Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES represents his administration’s six-point strategic agenda.
They include: Traffic Management and Transportation, Health and Environment, Education and Technology, Making Lagos a 21st Century Economy, Entertainment and Tourism as well as Security and Governance.
Dr. Ime Okon highlighted the importance of the outreach, especially during challenging economic times, targeting indigent residents.
The week-long program, involving over 65 health professionals, included eye screenings, eyeglasses, dental care, chest X-rays, prostate screening, blood donation, and counselling.
Preoperative investigations were conducted for 75 clients, with 40 patients undergoing free surgeries, including hernia repairs and appendectomies. Traditional leaders were also engaged to enhance healthcare awareness in the community.
Dr. Okon praised Vital Health International, Africa Global Mission, stakeholders, and hospital staff for their support and collaboration in the medical and surgical outreach.
