- Since 1999, the Igbos have been crying for the opportunity to produce a President
- Come 2023, a new face will be taking the seat at Aso Rock and that time might just be the time when an Igbo man, for the first time since 1999, becomes the President of Nigeria
- As gathered by EKO HOT BLOG , listed below are ten names from the South East that may want to aim for the Presidency seat
(1.) Peter Obi: He contested as Atiku Abubakar’s vice in the last elections, and he is currently one of the possible presidential candidates that Ndigbo can forward for the 2023 presidency.
(2.) Ike Ekweremadu: The Enugu-born lawyer served in the Senate as the Deputy President for three consecutive senates. The PDP man may not possess that political network that inspires a presidential aura, but he is up on the list of the possible politicians that the South East can put forward.
(3.) Ogbonnaya Onu: He is no new comer when it comes to the business of presidential tussle. The Ebonyi born politician was the standard bearer for the APP in 1999, but he decided to step down for one Olu Falae. He is one son of Igboland that has been in the mainstream of national politics for many years.
(4.) Rochas Okorocha: He is experienced politician in the presidential tussle. The APC man has contested for the presidency on several occasions, and despite his many political troubles, he still stands tall as an Igbo presidential hopeful.
(5.) Oby Ezekwesili: The former Education Minister is one woman that has made credible and notable national indelible marks. Her fearlessness and outspoken nature makes her noticeable, and the former VP of the World Bank’s Africa division, has an experience in the presidential tussle as she has contested under the ACPN even if she later stepped down.
(6.) Kingsley Moghalu: The former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, last time, contested under the Young Progressives Party (YPP), and the professor in International Business and Public Policy may be one tangible candidate for the Presidency from the South East.
(7.) David Umahi: The current governor of Ebonyi state recently defected from PDP to the APC. He is another person that the Igbos can dish out to accomplish the Igbo presidential dream come 2023.
(8.) Charles Soludo: Despite his political silence lately, and the turmoil he has been going through politically, the former CBN governor is one political mind that cannot be overlooked.
(9.) Emeka Ihedioha: The former deputy speaker House of Representatives and former governor of Imo State, is another Igbo man that can run for the Presidency.
(10.) Chris Ngige: As a two-term current minister of works and employment, he is one of the southeast leaders in the APC.
The former governor of Anambra State and a former senator who represented Anambra Central constituency in 2011, Ngige is currently a senior cabinet member and ally of president Muhammadu Buhari. He may be tipped to take a shot at the presidency while drawing from his vast experience.
