General Hospital, Ijede, has initiated a campaign aimed at raising awareness about Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) to further educate Lagos residents on the critical importance of addressing this issue.
Dr. Olufemi Aletan, the Medical Director and CEO of General Hospital, Ijede, emphasized that the primary goal of the campaign is to provide essential education and firsthand information on SGBV.
“The objective is to help the public identify both victims and perpetrators of such violence,” Dr. Aletan stated.
He highlighted that the Lagos State Government takes a strong stance against SGBV, with a strict zero-tolerance policy in place.

Dr. Aletan assured that medical care and attention are provided free of charge to victims within the state.
He also noted that those found guilty of perpetrating such acts would face prosecution.
“The State Government has established specialized psychosocial support for survivors of SGBV, administered by trained officers,” DDrAletan added.
In a call to action, Dr. Aletan urged victims of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence to speak out and reclaim their power, saying, “ItVictims must take sa tand and take back the power.”
