Eko Hot Blog reports that Enugu Rangers head coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu, has compared the competition for the 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League, NFL, title to the intense rivalry seen between Arsenal and Manchester City in the recently concluded English Premier League season.

Following his team’s 3-0 victory over Balyelsa United in a match-day 33 clash at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu on Sunday.
The youthful tactician emphasized that the title race was incredibly tight, with no team, including the Flying Antelopes who currently lead, having any clear advantage.
The former-MFM and Plateau United coach expressed gratitude to the Enugu State Government and the General Manager for their unwavering support, stating that their motivation to clinch the title remains high.
He affirmed their commitment to continuous hard work and self-belief as they prepare for their upcoming fixture against Sporting Lagos at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos on June 1st.
He said, “I don’t think there is anything else that is motivating Rangers presently. We are highly prepared for this game now, and we are motivated for this game.
“I am thinking of continental; I never said we will win the title.
“Today (Sunday), Enyimba beat Abia Warriors and Shooting Stars drew against Katsina, which means the chances are still the same, just like Arsenal and Manchester City this season.
“Any club telling you now that they are going to win the league is joking, even Rangers.
“What we are going to do is to keep working hard and believing in our team. As it stands, by next week.
“If we don’t get points at Sporting Lagos, though I believe we will, the margin is going to be a one-point difference
Reflecting on the triumph against Bayelsa United, Rangers forward Kalu Nweke.
Who has netted four goals for the team, emphasized that the win, led by Godwin Obaje’s brace.
Said it will serve as inspiration for them to continue their pursuit of the title.
“This victory means a lot to us. After the one-month break, this victory serves as a sign.
“And motivation for us to keep pushing for our target, the NPFL title,” said the 25-year-old.
Rangers’ victory solidified their top position with 60 points from 33 matches.
Hence, placing them four points behind second-placed Enyimba who share the same point tally with third-placed Remo Stars.
