Ekohotblog reports that the Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area (LCDA), under the leadership of Otunba-Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, in partnership with the Akanke Foundation, hosted its annual Christmas and New Year Funfair, spreading joy to children and offering financial support to widows and senior citizens.
The event honored the memory of Mrs. Sijuade Akanke Anomo, the late wife of the chairman and the originator of the initiative. Otunba-Akogun Wale Raji Anomo paid tribute to her passion for uplifting the less privileged and emphasized his commitment to preserving her legacy.

“We remember the selfless efforts of my late wife, Mrs. Sijuade Akanke Anomo, who started this program to bring smiles to the faces of children during the Yuletide season. Her legacy lives on, and we will continue to preserve her dreams by spreading joy and giving back to our community,” he said.
The funfair featured a variety of activities, including train rides, bouncing castles, and face painting, ensuring children had a memorable experience. Widows and senior citizens were also supported with ₦10,000 cash gifts to ease their burdens during the festive season.
Ms. Tomi Adegboyega, Executive Director of the Akanke Foundation, highlighted the foundation’s dedication to sustaining Mrs. Anomo’s vision. “This funfair is not just a celebration; it reflects the values and generous spirit of the late Mrs. Anomo,” she remarked.
Dignitaries, including Vice Chairman Alh. Wasiu Dehinsilu, APC leaders, and heads of various departments, attended the event, commending its impact on the community.
Eight-year-old Tolu Adeyemi captured the spirit of the day, saying, “I had so much fun! I loved the bouncing castle and the popcorn. I can’t wait to come back next year.”
