EKOHOTBLOG reports that the Umbrella body of Yoruba Self-Determination Groups, Ilana Omo Oodua, has said that the efforts to secure the release of the embattled Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, fondly known as Sunday Igboho, from detention in the Benin Republic is delayed by the vacation embarked upon by judges in the country.
The spokesperson for Ilana Omo Oodua, Maxwell Adeleye, made this known on Tuesday.
Recall that the Beninese court had on July 27, 2021, ordered that Sunday Igboho be remanded in a prison facility in the Francophone West African nation while further investigations were carried out on the case against the agitator.
The Yoruba rights activist, who is now seeking asylum in the Benin Republic, is facing allegations bordering on trafficking in arms, inciting violence, and causing disunity in Nigeria.
However, the spokesperson for Ilana Omo Oodua, when contacted on Tuesday, disclosed that Igboho’s legal team led by Olusegun Falola has prepared “everything necessary” to secure the release of the Yoruba rights activist.
Adeleye further stated that the vacation by judges in the Francophone West African nation delayed the Yoruba secessionist leader’s release.

It was, however, gathered that the judges in the Benin Republic would resume on September 15, 2021.
