Eko Hot Blog reports that, in a significant development, traditional land-owning families in Ilara Kingdom have received compensation from the Lagos State government for the acquisition of their land earmarked for the Lagos Agricultural Center of Excellence (LACE) project in Eredo LCDA, Epe, Lagos.
The state government disbursed a total sum of ₦9,382,100.00 to the landowners, covering the acquisition of 35 hectares for the project, which was acquired by the Agricultural Land Holding Authority (ALHA), an agency under the state Ministry of Agriculture.

The government agency also paid ₦7 million for crop compensation.
Speaking at the payment ceremony held at the palace of the HRM Oba Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo, the Alara of Ilara Kingdom, Epe, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Ms. Abiola Olusanya, highlighted the significance of the event.
She stated that, “This event is of great significance to Lagos State as it kick-starts the establishment of Project ‘LACE,’ a public-private partnership between the state government and Messrs. Dula Agro Service Limited.
“The project aims to create jobs for youth, stimulate economic activities, and anchor the growth and development of the value chain in the state.”

Olusanya, represented by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mrs. Olatokunbo Omokpae, emphasized the government’s commitment to fostering a thriving agricultural sector.
She expressed that the government seeks to encourage private sector investments and partnerships with stakeholders to uplift the socio-economic landscape.
The Lagos government official noted that this move aligns with the THEMES Plus Agenda of the present administration and the five-year Agricultural and Food Systems Roadmap launched by the Ministry.
“In this spirit of cooperation, we joined hands with Messrs. Dula Agro Service Limited to establish this project. Our overarching goal is to create an environment conducive to private investors in agriculture, bolstering food security and creating jobs for our ever-growing population,” Omokpae remarked.
The LACE project encompasses various components, including a fish hatchery facility for the production of 50 million fingerlings, a 2,000 MT per annum growth facility, a 20,000 MT per annum fish processing facility (smoked, fillet, and steak), as well as a 24,000 MT per annum feed plant.
The government’s collaboration with Dula Agro Service Limited aims to drive agricultural innovation, boost the local economy, and contribute to the overall development of Lagos State.
