Eko Hot Blog reports that the Member of the House of Representatives representing Epe federal constituency, Hon. Wale Raji, has reiterated his commitment towards the prosperity of Odo-Egiri community.
Hon. Raji made this disclosure at the grand finale of the coronation ceremony of HRM Oba Musiliu Abiola Oliwo, the Gbadewolu1 and Aladepekun of Odo-Egiri kingdom, which took place last Saturday, November 4, at the A. U. D. Primary school, Odo-Egiri, Eredo LCDA, Epe Division, Lagos.
“Odo-Egiri is a community I have a special relationship with. We have done a lot together before today and by the grace of God we will build on our existing cordial relationship with members of the community for the betterment of everybody,” he said.
He further reminisced on his acquaintance with the new king during their time in secondary school, of which the king was his senior at school. The lawmaker noted that he saw traits of leadership in him which eventually earned him the community leader of Odo-Egiri before becoming a king.
“I feel great and happy for kabiyesi, he’s a person I have known from secondary school days,he was my senior in secondary school and he’s been a committed community leader,” Raji said.
“Today that he’s being crowned kabiyesi of his community, it’s a calling to a higher responsibility and it’s an opportunity for him to do more for his community.”
The federal lawmaker concluded by appreciating the people of Odo-Egiri community for their perseverance and cooperation as they coronated their new king.
“On behalf of the members of my constituency, I congratulate him and I also congratulate the people of Odo-Egiri and Epe people as a whole,” he added.
Hon. Raji has made good on his promises to the Epe division of Lagos state with various projects in the areas of education, building healthcare facilities, renovation of dilapidated public structures, construction of roads, amongst others attached to his name. He has assured his commitment to enhance the Odo-Egiri community in collaboration with the new rulership.
Oba Oliwo, a respected leader in the Odo-Egiri community, worked assiduously with other stakeholders to achieve the kingship honour of the community which was suspended for many decades.
The monarch became the first king of Odo-Egiri Kingdom after receiving the staff of office and recognition from the Lagos state government under the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on May 28, 2023.
