‘I’m Not Afraid Of You’ – Brazil’s First Lady Swears At Elon Musk During G20 Event
Brazil’s First Lady, Janja Lula da Silva, made headlines over the weekend after directing a profanity-laced remark at billionaire Elon Musk during a G20 event where she advocated for stronger social media regulation to combat misinformation.
As she spoke on Saturday, a ship’s horn blared in the background, prompting her to joke, “I think it’s Elon Musk,” before adding, “I’m not afraid of you, f**k you, Elon Musk.”

Musk, the owner of the social media platform X, responded to a video of her comments with a laughing emoji. In a follow-up post, he remarked, “They are going to lose the next election,” referencing President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s administration.
The first lady’s remarks came during an event preceding the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro, which convenes on Monday and Tuesday.
Earlier this year, Musk’s platform X faced a one-month suspension in Brazil after failing to appoint a legal representative and comply with court orders to block accounts spreading “fake news” and hate speech. The service was reinstated last month after the company reversed its stance and adhered to the rulings.
The clash is one of several Musk has had with governments worldwide, including Australia and the UK, over efforts to curb online misinformation. Musk, who portrays himself as a defender of free speech, has often criticized such regulations.

Brazil’s president has also taken aim at Musk in the past, stating that businesses operating in Brazil must comply with local laws and warning that the world should not have to tolerate Musk’s “far-right ideology” merely because of his wealth.
