EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Controller General of the NIS, Mrs. Kemi Nanna Nandap, described the facility as a milestone in the modernization of Nigeria’s immigration infrastructure and a testament to the nation’s commitment to digital transformation and enhanced national security.

During the inauguration, Mrs. Nandap highlighted the advanced features of BATTIC, emphasizing its role in safeguarding Nigeria’s borders and improving migration management.

The facility integrates multiple critical components, including a Command-and-Control Centre for regular migration, the NIS Data Centre, the Visa Approval Centre, and the Passport Personalization Centre.

Additionally, it houses the ECOWAS National Biometric Identity Card (ENBIC) Centre and a 0.5KW solar farm, reflecting global best practices with certification from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and integration with the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

BATTIC’s cutting-edge capabilities include Advanced Passenger Information (API) and Passenger Name Record (PNR) analysis, enabling risk assessment before passenger arrival.

It also supports real-time video surveillance of unmanned borders, integrated communication across immigration units, and cross-referencing data with national and international watchlists, such as INTERPOL.

Describing BATTIC as a “central hub” for the NIS’s digital infrastructure, Mrs. Nandap emphasized its potential to detect suspicious travel patterns, enhance border security, and improve overall national safety.
