Imo Attack, Jailbreak Portends Danger For Nigeria, Osinbajo Warns
- Osinbajo admonished Nigerians not to allow groups that want to sow violence and destruction use them.
Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo says the recent attacks on Imo State Correctional Centre and State Police Headquarters by gunmen leaves a sour taste in the mouth, stressing that it is an indication of an impending doom.
Speaking on Tuesday when he visited Owerri, Imo State, after Tuesday’s attack on the state prison facilities and police Headquarters, Osinbajo said something drastic must be done to forestall reoccurrence of such incident.
Osinbajo warned that such path of violence can only lead to disaster which could spark an inferno that capable of consuming everyone.
He implored citizens to unite and reject the apostles of destruction seeking to foment trouble and cause chaos for their own selfish interests.
The VP said the attack was an onslaught on the way of life of the good people of the state, noting that it should not take the horror of war for people to realise the worth of peace
“We must reject the agents of anarchy that are seeking to weaponize the frustration and discontent of our young people for their own profit,” the Vice President said.
“The path of violence can only lead to a disaster that consumes everyone and leads to the desolation of our communities.
“It is easy to take peace for granted, but we need not learn the value of peace through the horrible crucible of war,” he added.
