The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide group has characterized the recent uprisings, waves of terror, and banditry in Imo state as a “revengeful mission and well-coordinated reprisal attacks” against the state government in response to the governor’s recent use of military action and airstrikes against the Eastern security network and IPOB members in Orlu.
“Ndigbo had previously warned Governor Hope Uzodinma of the repercussions of his impulsive conduct against ESN in appeasement of his paymasters, subsequently Imo state Governor should now recognize the full responsibilities of violence committed in Owerri on early Easter Monday and his leadership failures to constructively pursuade his paymasters,” the group said in a statement to POLITICS NIGERIA on Monday Easter Monday and his administration’s inability to seek peace constructively rather than resorting to military action against peaceful biafra agitators in Orlu recently.”
“The pattern and uniformity of the perpetrators’ modus operandi indicates ” there are evidences of a well-coordinated serial attack in almost all police stations in all igbo states at the early hours of each day with the sole purpose of amassing innuations for the probably upcoming election. The new aspects of attacks at Owerri Correctional Facility prisons indicate that the perpetrators had equally released their members recently imprisoned by Imo state Governor over the Orlu crisis.”

“As a result, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide calls for a ceasefire and reminds the “PERPETRATORS” that dialogue remains the best weapon for resolving conflicts and disputes, and there are procedures in place to nip these fast-rising Monsters in Southeast at the bud, which necessitates drastic measures,” says the statement.
The Group also proferred 5 solutions to the problem.
“(1) Governor Hope Uzodinma should apologize to Ndigbo for his non-consultative military conduct in the Orlu crisis and the arrest of innocent citizens, as well as revoke the majority of his controversial anti-Igbo policies and decisions.”
“(2) Southeast Governors must immediately create a regional Southeast security network to engage youths in defending our territories with full legal backing.”
“(3) Endsars FG Youth Empowerment funds should be distributed equitably throughout Southeast’s 95 Lgas.”
“(4) Anti-open grazing legislation must be enacted unanimously in all Southeast state legislatures and signed into law by Southeast governors as soon as possible.”
“(5) Southeast Governors should de-proscribe Ipob’s activities and convince the Federal Government to drop their terrorist tag.”
“If our political leaders, opinion leaders, and religious leaders remain silent as evil triumphs in front of us, now is the best time to uproot these menaces growing up in the East.
