Nigeria Immigration Service has introduced a new travel document which is Nigeria Temporary Passport for Nigerians abroad that need to travel back home but does not have standard passport at hand.
Nigeria Immigration Service said that the Nigeria Temporary Passport meets International Civil Aviation Organization standards and will allow citizens abroad to return to the country without problem in border control.
Nigerian government just officially launched the new temporary type electronic passport on Tuesday in one launch ceremony that happened in Abuja and top Diplomats from US, UK, Canada and Cameroon came to the event, EKO HOT BLOG gathered.
Important things to know about the new temporary passport
(1) The Nigeria Temporary Passport officially replace the paper-based Emergency Travel Certificate.
(2) Embassies and High commissions outside Nigeria can issue it to citizens
(3) Travellers can’t use it more than once and it is valid for 30 days
(4) Just like the standard passport, it meets International Civil Aviation Organization
(5) It has electronic chip that will contain information about the traveller, like the standard passport.
(6) It only has four pages in it.
(7) Immigrations will collect the NTP from the traveller after using once
