The officials then produced the suspects in court and requested that they undergo a medical examination on the grounds that they might have concealed drugs in their bodies.
After the medical examination confirmed that the duo had ingested capsules containing a substance, the suspects purged 167 capsules over the course of three days. These capsules were found to contain a total of 2.97 kg of cocaine, which is valued at Rs 29.76 crore.
The suspects have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and have been remanded to judicial custody by the court. The NDPS Act is a law in India that prohibits the production, sale, and consumption of narcotics and psychotropic substances.
This is not the first instance of drug smuggling by Nigerians in India. The Nigerian community in India has been under scrutiny for drug trafficking activities, with several instances of drug seizures in recent years.
The authorities have been cracking down on drug smuggling in the country, and incidents like this serve as a warning to anyone attempting to smuggle illegal substances into India.
