Chief Justice Suhartoyo declared that the petitions lacked legal basis, citing a lack of evidence of systematic fraud or state interference in the election process.
Both Anies and Ganjar had alleged state interference to favor Prabowo Subianto, who secured a significant victory in the election.
They argued that widespread distribution of social aid by the government had influenced the outcome in Prabowo’s favor.
However, the administration and Prabowo’s camp refuted these claims, with cabinet members denying that the aid had swayed voters and Prabowo dismissing the allegations as baseless.
Despite the dissenting opinions of three judges, the court’s ruling is final and binding.
Both Anies and Ganjar have stated their respect for the decision, with Ganjar extending his wishes to the “winner,” Prabowo.
Anies emphasized the importance of a peaceful transition of power and referred to Prabowo as a “patriot.”
Prabowo, who is set to assume office in October, expressed gratitude for the court’s decision, calling it “a victory for all Indonesians.”
The presidential palace also affirmed its respect for the ruling and pledged support for the president-elect’s transition.
The court’s decision also addressed concerns about the inclusion of President Joko Widodo’s son, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, as Prabowo’s running mate.
This decision, enabled by a ruling in October to change eligibility rules, had sparked controversy, with critics alleging nepotism and presidential intervention.
However, the court found no evidence of such interference, despite previous ethical violations by the chief justice involved in the decision.
The ruling brings closure to a contentious election process and paves the way for Prabowo’s presidency, succeeding the popular President Jokowi.
