INEC Announces Suspension Of Voters’ Online Pre-Registration In Lagos
- INEC has announced the suspension of voters’ online pre-registration in Lagos.
EKOHOTBLOG reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it will suspend the pre-registration of voters in Lagos from Tuesday (today).
The latest development was made known via a statement by the Head of Department, Voter Education/Publicity, INEC, Lagos State, Mr. Femi Akinbiyi, on Monday.
Akinbiyi, who stated that INEC would display voter register for claims and objections from September 24, said, “The Independent National Electoral Commission, Lagos State will as from September 21, 2021, suspend the online pre-registration of voters that started on June 28, 2021, and in-person registration that commenced on July 26, 2021, and thereafter embark on the display of voter register for claims and objections.

“The exercise based on the approved timelines and schedule will start on September 24 and end on September 30, 2021. The temporary CVR stoppage is to give room for all registrants to check for appropriateness or otherwise of their information supplied during the registration.
“The seven-day long activities are also to raise objections (if any) about names that are not supposed to be on the register, like names of dead persons, foreigners, and Nigerians below the age of 18. The commission will also use the period for other necessary housekeeping activities in preparation for the next quarter,” the statement read in part.
