EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday presented the Certificate of Return to Bola Tinubu and his running mate, Kashim Shettima, as winners of the 2023 presidential election. The ceremony took place in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
The INEC National Chairman, Yakubu Mahmood, presented the certificate to Tinubu and Shettima amidst cheers and jubilation from their supporters.

The presentation of the certificate marked the official declaration of Tinubu as the President-elect of Nigeria.
Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, emerged as the winner of the keenly contested presidential election after polling the highest votes to defeat his closest rival, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Peter Obi of the Labour Party.
The presidential election, which held on Saturday, February 25, 2023, witnessed a massive turnout of voters across the country. Reports from various polling units and collation centers indicated that the exercise was peaceful and largely devoid of violence.
Following Tinubu’s victory, there have been celebrations across the country, with his supporters taking to the streets to express their joy and excitement. The President-elect has also received congratulatory messages from various leaders and stakeholders across the country and beyond.
