INEC Receives Sensitive Materials For Lagos Surulere Federal Constituency I By-Election

Eko Hot Blog reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos State has taken delivery of sensitive materials for the upcoming Surulere Federal Constituency I by-election scheduled for Saturday.

The materials were received from the Central Bank of Nigeria in preparation for the crucial electoral exercise.

Prof. Ayobami Salami, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Lagos State, assured the public of INEC’s readiness for the by-election, stating, “We have taken delivery of the sensitive materials today. We are in the last phase of the process of the by-election. We have taken the ballot papers and the results sheet for Saturday’s by-election. It is clear to everyone that we are ready for the election.”

Salami emphasized the commitment to transparency in the electoral process, inviting representatives from political parties and security agencies to witness the proceedings.

He assured stakeholders that the sensitive materials are secure and intact, underscoring the commission’s dedication to a transparent and credible electoral exercise.

The REC further highlighted the steps taken to ensure fairness, stating, “INEC was ready to conduct free, fair and credible elections on Saturday,” and called for the cooperation and support of all stakeholders.

The onward distribution of the materials from the state headquarters to the six wards and 258 polling units that constitute Surulere Federal Constituency I is scheduled to commence on Friday.

Eko Hot Blog reports that 12 candidates from various political parties are set to contest in the February 3 election.
