INEC Staff Arrested For Commercializing PVC For Monetary Reward In Enugu

An INEC staff has been arrested for allegedly charging N1000 for PVC collection.

The suspect was spotted in a video with a big bag carrying out the ‘illicit’ act.

Another staff of the Commission who was said to be an accomplice of the suspect was also arrested.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that a woman, Chinwendu Nnamani, who went viral after she was caught charging registered voters N1,000 to collect their Permanent Voter’s Cards has been arrested in Enugu.
It was earlier reported that the Chinwendu, who held a bag containing PVCs, was seen charging one thousand Naira, saying it was the cost of bringing the cards to their supposed ward.

She was heard saying in Igbo that, “If you don’t want to pay, you can go to your local government headquarters. You will pay the transport fare.”
However, in a statement on Wednesday, the state police public relations officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe said, she was arrested at Emene, Enugu, by police detectives serving in the State CID of the state police command on 31/01/2023.
Aside from Chinwendu, one Nkiruka Patience Obinna, aged 38, identified as a staff member of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, was also arrested.
Nkiruka was alleged to have supplied the PVCs to the first suspect for distribution to the actual owners.
According to Ndukwe, “Investigation has been concluded, and the case charged to court in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022.
