EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed that it will no longer keep sensitive electoral materials with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
This was revealed by the Chairman of the commission, Mahmood Yakubu, specifically noting that beginning from the Ekiti state Governorship election, INEC will not keep its sensitive materials with the CBN.
According to him, this decision is to guarantee that electoral materials for the lined-up Elections are not compromised.
The decision might not be unconnected to the recent declaration of the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, announcing that he will contest for the position of president in 2023.
The Governor also sued both INEC and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) in court, asking that the court should restrain them from stopping his presidential ambition.
After several controversies about his actions, he withdrew the case from court abruptly.
