Eko Hot Blog reports that there has been a fire outbreak at a section of the Tejuosho Market, Yaba, Lagos state (see video of the scene of the fire here).
The fire reportedly started on Tuesday afternoon. It was said to have destroyed several buildings in the market.
In an update via Twitter, Margaret Adeseye, the director of the Lagos Fire and Rescue Service, said firefighters are working to put out the fire.
“Tailor Market behind the ultra modern Tejuosho Market, Yaba, Lagos,” she tweeted.
“The Fire which involved the clothing and tailoring materials section of the market is being subdued by the Lagos Firefighters.”
As of the time of filing this report, Eko Hot Blog could not ascertain the number of causalities.
The incident comes a few hours after a bank building under construction was gutted by fire in the Victoria Island of Lagos, leading to the death of a man.
The incident left nine other men with various degrees of burns.
