In a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna, the directive aims to bolster the security of lives and property, particularly within educational institutions. Haruna emphasized the importance of cooperation from the public, including school administrators, teachers, parents, and students, in reporting any suspicious activities.

Commissioner Gumel stressed the significance of these measures in deterring criminal activities and fostering a secure environment conducive to learning. He urged the public to remain vigilant and report any unusual movements or items to the nearest police station.

The decision to ramp up security follows recent incidents of insecurity, including the abduction of over 280 pupils and teachers from Government Secondary School and LEA Primary School in Kuriga, Kaduna State. This harrowing event has sparked national outrage and condemnation from various organizations, including the Jama’atu Nasril Islam, Amnesty International, and the Nigeria Union of Teachers.
