Eko Hot Blog reports that this was in accordance to a statement issued on Saturday by Charles Egumgbe, Enugu commissioner for chieftaincy matters.
Egumgbe said the decision to suspend the traditional ruler was reached at a security meeting held on Friday.
According to the statement, the traditional ruler was suspended over allegations of his involvement in conduct harmful to the security of the state.
The statement, however, did not specify what Ituma did.
Egumgbe added that the traditional ruler will remain suspended until the state government is through with investigations, findings, and recommendations.
Meanwhile, the security meeting held on Friday was chaired by Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, governor of Enugu.
Others in attendance were Cecilia Ezeilo, Enugu deputy governor; Edward Ubosi, speaker, Enugu house of assembly; and Simon Ortuanya, secretary to the state government.
Security agencies represented at the meeting included the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Police Force, and Department of State Services (DSS).
