Insecurity: FG Must Go Beyond Statement Of Condemnation – Atiku
Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar says the prosecution of bandits and terrorists by the federal government will serve as a deterrent to other criminal elements harbouring intents of wreaking havoc in the country.
Reacting to the recent attack on the convoy of Sanusi Muhammad, Emir of Kaura Namoda in Zamfara state, Atiku said the federal government must expedite the prosecution of terrorists and bandits in the country.
Eko Hot Blog had reported how eight people, including three police officers, were killed when the gunmen attacked the emir’s convoy on his way back from Abuja on Thursday.
The former vice-president said the killing of innocent people on a daily basis was disgraceful and should be curtailed before things get out of hand.
He said the state of security in the country gives serious cause for concern, he implored the federal government to go all out and hold no prisoner in addressing issues of insecurity.
“Condemnation of attacks is not enough to reassure citizens who are constantly living in fear,” he said in a statement.
“The government should speed up the prosecution of terrorists and bandits in order to send a strong message to these outlaws that there are consequences for wilful taking of life.
“The frequency and ease with which the bandits are killing innocent people almost on a daily basis is embarrassing and should be halted lest outlaws are allowed to rule over affairs.
