Insecurity: Matawalle Orders Closure Of Media Houses

Zamfara State Government has ordered the closure of some federal and state-owned media outlets for security reasons, less than 48 hours after ordering the lockdown of three local government areas and the suspension of all political activities due to the return of attacks in some communities.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the order was disclosed in a statement released on Saturday night by Ibrahim Dosara, the Commissioner for Information.

The directive, which was aired on the state-owned radio, said the government took the decision in view of the worsening security situation in the state.

Therefore, it directed the state commissioner of police to arrest any journalist who violated the order.
