Big names such as Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland, Lionel Messi, Rodri, and Vinicius Junior were included.
In response to the announcement, Moratti questioned the decision, suggesting that Martinez’s efforts and contributions over the past year deserved recognition.
“It’s surprising and disappointing that he wasn’t considered among the candidates after an exceptional season,” Moratti said.
“Lautaro deserves more respect and greater recognition.
“This exclusion seems to ignore not only the numbers and success he’s had, but also the impact in decisive matches. This is a bad sign, players who stand out like this should be rewarded.”
