Investigate The Murder Of Rasheed Adeniji — Osun APC

• The All Progressives Congress in Osun State has charged the police to investigate the death of its member, Rasheed Adeniji whose death is alleged to be a murder case.

• In a statement, Tajudeen Lawal, the Acting Chairman of the Osun APC alleged that Adeniji’s death resulted when some hoodlums rumored to be of the opposition had attacked and fired the shot that killed Adeniji.

• Prior to Rasheed Adeniji’s death, allegations pointed fingers on Adeniji shooting dead a PDP member, Gani Dele.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has called on the Osun State Police Command to investigate the murder accusation leveled against Rasheed Adeniji, the Osun APC Organising Secretary.

Adeniji was alleged to have shot dead one Gani Dele, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ila-Orangun, Ila Local Government Area, during the House of Assembly election on March 18, 2023.

In a statement released on Monday by Tajudeen Lawal, the Osun APC Acting Chairman in Osogbo, he insisted that Adeniji was falsely accused by PDP members in the ancient town. Lawal revealed that there was a need for the police to get to the root of the killing, as it was reliably gathered that one of the PDP thugs, who wanted to kill an APC member during an argument over overvoting, fired the shot that killed the deceased in Ila-Orangun.

He also urged the police to investigate the pockets of crises that characterized the elections in some towns, such as Ile-Ife, Osogbo, Iragbiji, Olorunda, among others, where PDP thugs had a field day unhindered.

Lawal stated that “while I sympathize with the family of the deceased over the sudden death of their loved one, it is expedient to inform and charge the police to investigate the Ila-Orangun killing dispassionately to avoid a miscarriage of justice, as the APC is an ardent believer and doer of the rules of law.

The information at my disposal reveals that the unfortunate killing of the person in Ila-Orangun was actually carried out by a PDP hoodlum but being hung on the neck of the APC chieftain by the PDP leaders in order to score a political point.”

Lawal also lamented the reported incidents of attacks on APC members and supporters by PDP hoodlums in various towns in the state during the elections. He called for investigations into these attacks to bring the masterminds to justice.

“There were hues and cries across the state as the PDP thugs took a center stage, attacking and maiming the members and supporters of the opposition at the polling units,” he alleged.

Adeniji was arrested by personnel of the Police and Department of State Services, DSS, on election duty, and taken to the Osun Police Command, Osogbo.
