Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, clarified that what occurred was not a complete grid collapse but rather a “trip-off.”

TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah explained in a statement that recovery efforts began immediately, with the Azura power station initiating a blackstart.

Recovery progressed significantly by 10:24 AM on Tuesday but faced a setback that hampered the process further.

According to The Punch, the power grid faced another disruption on Tuesday during the restoration efforts. Mbah stated, “Despite the slight setback, TCN continued with the grid recovery process, which has now reached an advanced stage, ensuring bulk power availability to about 90% of its substations nationwide.
