EKO HOT BLOG reports that TCN reported experiencing a partial disturbance on the national grid on Monday, and efforts to restore full power were ongoing as of Tuesday.
TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah explained in a statement that recovery efforts began immediately, with the Azura power station initiating a blackstart.
Recovery progressed significantly by 10:24 AM on Tuesday but faced a setback that hampered the process further.
According to The Punch, the power grid faced another disruption on Tuesday during the restoration efforts. Mbah stated, “Despite the slight setback, TCN continued with the grid recovery process, which has now reached an advanced stage, ensuring bulk power availability to about 90% of its substations nationwide.
Supply has been restored to the Abuja area and other major distribution centers, although many regions remained in darkness as of 7 PM on Tuesday.”
Meanwhile, the the Minister of Power announced that 1.3 million meters are set to be delivered in December and assured Nigerians of potential reductions in electricity costs. Mbah also noted that the partial disturbance did not affect the Ibom Gas generating station, which remained operational and continued supplying power to areas in the South-South region, including Eket and Uyo.
