Invite Me To Lagos And I Will Come –Texas Mayor
The Mayor of San Atonio Texas, Mr Ron Niremberg has expressed the readiness of his Administration to partner with Lagos State in exploring what he described as abounding business opportunities in both cities.
He made this known at a reception in San Antonio, Texas, the venue of the 11th 2019 Eko Club International Biennial Convention, while welcoming members of the Organisation to the city of San Antonio.
This reception is part of the activities for the 2019 11th Eko Club International Biennial Convention.
“The City of San Antonio has a lot in common with the City of Lagos in terms of its cultural diversity, its welcoming attitude and the care for humanity”, Niremberg said
According to him, “The DNA for San Antonio is the compassion for the needy and the under-privileged in the society and establishing a relationship with a city that shares the same Value as San Antonio will be quite beneficial to the two cities”
The mayor reiterated that pursuing the Sister City through the Sister City Organisation could go a long way to strengthening the economic relationship between the two cities..
In an exclusive interview with Eko Hot Blog correspondent afterwards, Mr Nirenberg said, the actualisation of the Sister City relationship between the two cities would begin with a visit of a delegation from Lagos, followed by a letter of Invitation from Lagos State Government to the office of the Mayor of San Antonio.
“Come and Visit San Antonio and Invite me to come and visit Lagos and I will come”, he said
In the area of tourism potentials of the City of San Antonio, the Mayor said, Tourism and Hospitality remained one of the city’s strongest and largest industries.
According to him, “the economic impact of the hospitality industry was 15 billion last year and the welcome mat of the city witnessed a surge of 37 million visitors that visited San Antonio Metropolitan Area including the San Antonio River Walk where the Dinner Reception was held.
Speaking on behalf of his Organisation, the President of Eko Club International, Mr Lanre Ojo expressed appreciation on behalf of himself and that of twenty five million Lagosians, adding that Eko Club International was a microcosm of what transpired in Lagos State.
He said the club had remained a dependable partner with the government in its quest to deliver the dividend of democracy..
He assured the Mayor that the Organisation would not relent in its effort to ensuring the actualization of the sister city relationship,
Dr. Shafideen Amuwo, while presenting the Mayor with the Adamu Orisa hat on behalf of the Lagos State Governor,Mr Babajide Sanwoolu, said that the hat was a symbol of peace,unity and progress.
He also expressed optimism that the two cities would benefit tremendously from their relationship given their shared values.
The members were treated to a boat ride on tour of the San Antonio Riverwalk, one of the major contributor to the 15 billion impact of the tourism industry
